Akvakultur i Vesterålen is an adventure center for Norwegian aquaculture, where you can get a unique insight into the production of salmon in one of Norway's most beautiful regions.
At our facility, you get to go out on our boat to visit a real fish farm with salmon and trout, meet a real fish farmer and you get a guided tour of our great exhibits, showing aquaculture history from the pioneer era in the '50s to today's high-tech operations. We have exciting activities for children, movies, underwater camera and a 12-meter long map in glass, showing aquaculture expansion in Northern Norway. The visit includes a delicious taste of smoked salmon or trout from our own production.
We are open to all year round for visits, Monday-Friday 10:00-16:00. Aquaculture in vesterålen is a visitor center for the Norwegian aquaculture, where you can get a unique insight into the production of salmon and trout in one of Norway's most beautiful regions.
A visit with us takes around 2 hours and includes:
• Guided boat trip to the fish farm and with focus on fish health, operations and construction. (Fixed departure, Max 12 persons per trip, therefore need to be booked in advance)
• Guided tour of our exhibition, to learn about Norwegian salmon industry and the aquaculture industry.
• Technical tasting of our self-produced smoked fish products.
We encourage guests to book a boat trip in advance to be sure of space on the boat.
We reserve the right to cancel due to weather or technical problems on the boat. Guided tour and tasting runs normally.
